As relates to water treatment, avery fine, fluffy-type mass formed by the coming together of a number of fine suspended particles. A floc can occur naturally, but most frequently it is induced by the addition of a coagulant/flocculent to raw water which contains undesirable turbidity or color.

In wastewater treatment, a clump of solids formed in sewage by biological or chemical action.
