Frequently Asked Questions about Professional Certification

  1. When are exams offered?

Public exam sessions are offered at the WQA Convention and at the State and Regional WQA conferences. Additionally, you can set up a private exam session for a time that is convenient for you.

  2. How long does the Modular Education Program (MEP) take?

For a computer-savvy individual, comfortable reading and answering questions on a computer screen, the Basics and Fundamentals Modules take about 40 hours to complete in total. The Core Modules will vary, but some learners find the Core Modules to move much faster because it is providing examples of applications being done on a day-to-day basis.

  3. What if I fail an exam?

If you fail a certification exam once, you may take the certification exam again at any time. On the second failed attempt, you may request more in-depth feedback on topics missed and then re-take the exam after 6-months have passed. You may also request a manual re-grade of any failed exam.

  4. What if I require an accommodation due to my learning disability?

Accommodations for learning disabilities can be made. WQA must know the nature of the learning disability and the accommodation that is requested in writing before agreeing in order to ensure integrity of the certification exam. The proctor or person helping the test-taker cannot have any water treatment experience.
