Pauli Undesser, MWS, CAE
Executive Director

Pauli Undesser brings a vast knowledge of water treatment technologies, standards, codes and regulations, along with high-level project management skills, to her role at WQA.

Prior to accepting the role of WQA Executive Director, she served as WQA's Director of Regulatory and Technical Affairs and Water Quality Research Foundation Coordinator. Under Pauli's leadership, WQA successfully coordinated a coalition to re-write and simplify industry product certification laws in California, launched an unprecedented capital campaign for its foundation and developed an internal toxicology program.

Pauli holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree in Biochemistry from Northern Illinois University, and is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE).

 
Scott Parker, MBA, CAE

Associate Executive Director of Member & Public Engagement

Scott Parker leads the marketing and communications, business development, events and membership teams. Scott has has held senior roles in marketing, meetings and events, and member services with both trade and professional associations.

Prior to WQA, he served as the Director of Membership and Career Services at APICS – an association representing the supply chain and logistics industries.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from DePaul University and is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE). 

 
Wesley Bleed
Marketing & Communications Director

Wesley Bleed brings extensive media and public relations experience to WQA's Marketing & Communications Department. As the News Director and broadcast journalist for award-winning WGN Radio, Communications Director for a statewide campaign for governor and Vice President of a Chicago area public relations/public affairs firm serving such clients as Metra, Harris Corporation, Northern Illinois University, local municipalities and the DuPage Mayors and Managers Association, Wes has a solid understanding of media relations, crisis communications, media coaching, writing, media training, content marketing, video production, web site and social media development. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Speech Communication from Wheaton College.

 

Brian Geegan
Business Development Director

Brian Geegan has lead WQA's Business Development Department since 2015. With Brian’s guidance the Business Development group is tasked with leading, developing and implementing WQA domestic and international sales strategies across all association business lines.

Brian brings a work history that includes continued progression in sales and client management skills. These skills will work to benefit WQA by enhancing the customer experience and increasing client engagement. His recent positions include Senior Business Development Manager at a major Engineering Services Firm and Sales Manager for an international industrial supplier.  

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University as well as continued education through programs like Lean Manufacturing and Dale Carnegie.

 
Nancy Henkel, CMP
Events Director

Nancy Henkel is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with more than 15 years of professional experience planning events and meetings. Since 2013, she has managed the association’s Annual Convention, Mid-Year Leadership Conference, and other meetings and events.

During her career, Nancy has planned a wide variety of events including corporate annual meetings, educational conferences, certification training programs and receptions. She has conducted events for Fortune 500 companies, a large public university, the U.S. Department of Defense, professional organizations and the Mayor of the City of Chicago.

Nancy graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and Family Studies.

 
David Loveday
Government Affairs Director

David Loveday, a veteran public affairs and political professional, has overseen WQA’s Government Affairs Department since 2007. He brings to WQA a vast base expertise gained during more than 30 years of experience in the public sector.

David has served as a staff member in the White House, on international delegations and in numerous high-level policy positions. He administered federal disaster assistance to Ethiopia and Sudan in the 1980s and has worked as a senior campaign official on more than ten national and statewide election campaigns.

He also served as a chief spokesman and director of communications staff in the Illinois House of Representatives, communications director for the Chicago-area Regional Transport Authority, and as external affairs director for the nation's second largest tollway system.

David has a bachelor's degree in Communications from the New York Institute of Technology.

 
Tanya Lubner, PhD
Professional Certification & Education Director

Dr. Tanya Lubner has served as WQA's director of Education & Professional Certification since 2005. In this role, she oversees the development of new program areas, creation of educational materials and examinations. 

Prior to joining WQA, Tanya was a sales engineer for a manufacturer of optical spectroscopy instrumentation. 

She holds a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the University of Wyoming.

 
Stuart Mann, MWS
Sustainability Certification Manager

Stuart Mann combines industry expertise and a passion for protecting the Earth’s ecosystems in his role as leader of WQA’s Sustainability Certification Program.

Stuart has been part of the WQA team since 2010. In 2012, he accepted the newly created position of Sustainability Certification  is responsible for guiding water treatment companies through the sustainability certification process and for developing new product standards that demonstrate best practices for environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Mann holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a master’s degree in Environmental Management & Sustainability from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), where he also served as Communications Manager for the Office of Campus Sustainability.

 

Jacqualine Price Osafo, CAE
Membership and Development Director

Jacqualine Price Osafo is the WQA Membership and Development Director. In her role, she responsible for managing all aspects of membership operations and serves as the staff liaison to assigned committees and sections. She is also responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase corporate sponsorship.

Jacqualine brings a history of more than 20 years of experience with working for associations. She has served as the Director of Membership Services and Customer Care for an association, and during her tenure helped increase membership by 97 percent. She managed a membership budget that represented 20 percent of the association’s revenue. She was a member of the leadership team where she contributed to the overall association’s strategic initiatives. Jacqualine’s background also includes the coordination, and management of educational programs and exhibits in Asia, Europe, and South America. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University and is a Certified Associate Executive (CAE).

 

Kari Pantol, MBA
Development Manager

Kari Pantol is the WQA Development Manager. In this role, she manages non-dues revenue programs and sponsorship offerings. As the first and only WQRF staff member, she works with the Deputy Executive Director and WQRF board to plan and execute fundraising campaigns.

Prior to joining WQA, Kari worked at a variety of cultural and education institutions throughout the Greater Chicago area. She has more than ten years of experience in fundraising, board management, grant writing and special events. 

Kari holds an MBA in Non-Profit Arts Management from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 
Tom Spoden
Product Certification Director

Tom Spoden began his career with WQA as Analytical Laboratory Supervisor in 2012 and was promoted into the position of Product Certification Director in April 2015. In this role he plans and implements the strategic business plans for WQA’s Product Certification and Laboratory programs to maximize customer service and improve program offerings.

 

Prior to WQA, Tom worked as a Laboratory Technician, where he performed microbiological testing, data analysis, and evaluated drinking water, waste water and solid sample results.

 

Tom holds a Bachelors of Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 
Eric Yeggy
Technical Affairs Director

Through his role as the Director of Technical Affairs for WQA, Eric Yeggy plans and coordinates the activities of the Technical Affairs department as well as the WQA Water Sciences Committee, which is charged with tackling the technical challenges facing the drinking water treatment industry. Additionally, Eric serves as the Scientific Consultant for the Water Quality Research Foundation (WQRF) and plays a key role in review and prioritization of research proposals. Eric has been part of the WQA team since 2009 and has since led the development of new industry standards for Sustainability of Water Treatment Products, and industry performance standards for Electrochemical Water Treatment Systems.

Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa and began his career in the environmental testing industry. As an analytical chemist in the testing industry, brings a wealth of knowledge to WQA, including gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma analysis and numerous other techniques used to test waste water, soil, drinking water, consumer products and industrial materials.

   INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS
  Sam De Laender
International Operations – London, UK

Sam De Laender is an experienced professional certification audit manager. As an independent contractor based in Europe, he serves as the WQA representative for international operations. Sam is responsible in further developing and implementing WQA's international operations in the areas of international membership, product certification, international events and trade shows.

Sam holds a master's degree in Engineering from the University of Leuven, Belgium. Prior to joining WQA, he served as an auditor for product certification at NSF International in Brussels, Belgium, and as audit manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

 
H.S. Choi
South Korea Operations – Seoul

H.S. (HeungSoon) Choi serves as an independent contractor for WQA's South Korea operations. Working as an independent contractor based out of Seoul, H.S. facilitates relations between WQA member companies and the Korean Water Purifier Industry Cooperative (KOWPIC). He also performs factory inspections on behalf of WQA's Gold Seal Product Certification Program and increase awareness of WQA membership, product and professional certification programs among South Korean companies.

Prior to representing WQA, H.S. worked as.a business development manager for Underwriters Laboratories in South Korea. At UL he worked with public industry organizations and grew the company's testing, inspection and certification business. H.S. holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from HanYang University, in Seoul, South Korea.

 
Simon Ding
China Operations - Shanghai

Simon Ding represents WQA as an independent contractor and facilitates the Association’s operations in China. Based in Shanghai, Simon is responsible for promoting WQA membership and services, educating WQA members on Chinese standards and regulations, and assisting in the development of WQA’s global Gold Seal Product Certification Program. His experience as the senior project manager for CHC Expo-RAI Amsterdam provides excellent networking opportunities for expanding WQA’s presence in China.

 

Simon holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business, Trade and Commerce from The Hague University in the Netherlands.


 
Vaneet Gupta
Country Manager - India

 

Vaneet Gupta represents WQA as country manager for India. Vaneet is responsible for representing WQA in India by developing business, conducting audits and acting as our client and member contact for the India market.  

Vaneet has an extensive water and water treatment industry background. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dr. Harisingh Sagar University, MP, India, as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the Centre for Management Development, Modinagar, UP, India.
