WQA Announces Endorsement of Wishing Well International Foundation

Charity selected for its focus on water access and quality improvement

Lisle, Illinois — The figures are staggering: roughly 884 million people—one in eight worldwide—does not have access to safe drinking water, and every 20 seconds, somewhere around the globe a child dies as the result of a waterborne disease.

Citing the charity’s efforts to solve one of the humankind’s fundamental challenges, the Water Quality Association (WQA)—the not-for-profit international trade association representing the residential, commercial and industrial water treatment industry—announced its official endorsement of the Wishing Well International Foundation (WWIF) today. WWIF strives to bring clean, safe drinking water to developing areas of the world, while reducing mortality and disease through improvements in sanitation and hygiene.

WWIF is an allied member of WQA, and its leadership team—including Guillermo Guzman of H2O International Inc. (Deerfield Beach, FL), Denise Heskett-Al-Kharusy, CWS-VI and Issa Al-Kharusy of KDF Fluid Treatment Inc. (Three Rivers, MI), and Kurt C. Peterson of WC&P International (Tucson, AZ) —boasts many decades of combined membership in the Association.

WQA’s endorsement of WWIF is based on the alignment of the groups’ shared missions and does not include a financial commitment. WQA’s own fund-raising will continue to be directed toward its independent research arm, the Water Quality Research Foundation.

“When selecting a cause to endorse, we needed the organization’s work to be focused sharply on water, water quality improvement and access to clean water,” remarks Dave Haataja, WQA executive director and CEO. “In addition to having a mission that aligns with our own, we were looking for a financially healthy organization that was committed to transparency and has a clear plan for achieving results.”
